Home Distance Learning Plan
Linn Schools
In order to maintain a Continuous Learning Plan, USD 223 will be shifting to a digital instructional system. This will require access to the internet. In the event that internet access is not available to the student, we ask that you try to get service through a phone hotspot or contact a service provider to see about temporary service. If you do not have internet in your home, please contact your teacher(s) via email so arrangements can be made for assignments.
All students will begin on Monday, March 30th with the digital plan.
Both Secondary and Elementary students will pick up class materials, iPads, headphones and workbooks on Wednesday, March 25th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We will only allow 5 students in each end of the building at one time. If you have a student on both ends of the building, you will have to check in at both ends and will not be able to go through the gym.
K-6 students will need to enter through the elementary door and go directly to their classroom to pick up their items.
7-12 students will need to enter through the main doors and their items will be located in their locker. Art projects can be picked up in the Art room. Students will need to bring with them any items to include library books, uniforms, textbooks, and band instruments that need to be returned to school. If they have an Ag project they will need go to the Ag Shop and Mr. Smith will be there to assist you.
All 7-12 grade students will report their Home Distance Learning Plan schedule that will be e-mailed to them via their school e-mail. Students will primarily access Google Classroom and Zoom for live interactions and email for correspondence. Links will be provided through the students’ school email. At any time, there is a technology problem or the teacher is unavailable, the student will shift to independent work until the next class opportunity. If the technology problem continues, please contact Ms. Root or Austin Lawrence via e-mail only.
Elementary teachers will communicate with parents and students through See Saw, Google Classroom, and Zoom. Your teacher will contact you to determine the time class will be held. Zoom meeting IDs will be communicated to parents via See Saw and/or e-mail. Parents will need to provide their grade school teacher an email to use for communication and will need to plan for supporting their child in accessing the daily Zoom meeting. In addition, students will complete a daily task list including digital and non-digital activities. The amount of time spent on the digital resources will be monitored by teachers. Students should be able to access and complete these activities with little parent support. School iPads will be released for home use. GoGuardian does not extend to the iPads, so parents will need a plan to monitor appropriate usage.
For students who receive additional services through the school, your teacher or provider will be contacting you to answer any questions and help you with any issues you may be having.
Grade School meeting times will be determined by the teachers. The teachers will contact students to let them know about times and assignments.
Our official communication outlets during this time are the USD 223 App, USD 223 Facebook page and the school website at www.usd223.org.
If you have questions, please e-mail the teacher for classroom issues. If you have additional questions, please e-mail Ms. Root at aroot@usd223.org.
I want to thank everyone for the patience and understanding during this time. My saying this year has been – If the plan does not work, change the plan but never the goal. Our goal is to educate the students of Linn the most effective way we know how given our circumstances.
