Below are opportunities and scholarships for students in grades 7-11.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award: If you've made a difference by volunteering in your community over the past year, you could win $1000 and a trip to Washington, D.C. Middle school students and high school students can apply.  Just visit http://spirit.prudential.com, click on the "How to Apply" link, and follow the onscreen instructions.  When asked for the access key, type the word spirit. After completing the online form, please print it out, sign it, and submit to Mrs. Converse by November 2, 2009.  

KSU Just for Juniors: This program encourages students and parents to think about college and how it will be different than high school.  To learn ask Mrs. Hoover or call Sara at 785-532-5081. To register online go to http://www.k-state.com/JustForJuniors

KSU Junior Days: See Mrs. Hoover's bulletin board for dates or go to http://consider.k-state.edu/visit/

KU's SWE Weekend of Engineering: This is a camp for high school girls that blends fun educational activities and a glimpse of the KU college experience.  See Mrs. Hoover for more information and/or application.  The two weekend dates are November 14-15 (November 2nd registration deadline) or March 6-7 (February 22nd registration deadline). 

Ayn Rand Essay Contest (8th, 9th & 10th grades): This contest involves reading Ayn Rand's book, Anthem and writing an essay on one of three topics.  Prizes range from $50 to the top prize of $10,000.  For rules or how to submit your essay go to www.aynrand.org/contests.  Entry deadline is March 20th.

Fort Hays State University's Tiger Mania Sophomore/Junior Day: This is an opportunity for sophomores and juniors to find out more about FHSU.  To attend the April 7th day call 1-800-628-FHSU or see Mrs. Hoover.

Kansas Wesleyan University Junior Day:  Monday, April 19th has been set for junior day.  See Mrs. Hoover if interested in attending.
