SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  There will NOT be a Jr. Varsity Football Game on Monday, Sept. 28th at Frankfort.  It has been canceled by Frankfort due to an incomplete team.  

 

Friday, Sept. 24    

FBLA members:  Work on selling pizzas this weekend.  Each member must sell at least the minimum number of items as listed on your order form.  All money and orders are due Monday, Oct. 5th.

Mrs. Hoover will be available to help SENIORS with scholarships and various applications this Monday, Sept. 28th, between the hours of 5 and 7 in the computer lab. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.  It could mean money in the pocket for post-secondary options next year!

There is a Site Council meeting Monday, Sept. 28th, at 7:00 in Mrs. Strnad's room. All staff are welcome to attend or suggest topics of discussion to Mrs. Converse.  The STUCO president and vice-president should attend this initial meeting. 

Reminder:  There is a $25.00 entry fee for each class float payable to STUCO.  The winning float - based on creativity, skit, neatness, etc., will be selected by four teachers and announced at the Pep Rally.  That class float will have its entry fee waived.  

Don't forget the homecoming dance will begin shortly after the end of the football game tonight.  Cost is $3 per person or $5 per couple.    

Let's make this a terrific homecoming day and night.  Go HANOVER WILDCATS!

Thursday, Sept. 24

There will be a golf parent meeting on September 28th at 6:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Parish Hall. It is recommended that all parents whose students are interested in playing golf in the spring attend this meeting and bring their $250/player to put into the account (unless you have already submitted the money to Donna Kruse or the office) so we know where we stand financially. 

Please dismiss the Jr. High VB & FB players A@ 3:20 today so they can load the bus to go to Axtell.

STUCO members will meet briefly at noon today in the high school library.

Congratulations to Braelen Stallbaumer and Allison Jueneman, "little people honorary escorts."

In preparation for the Homecoming Parade on Friday, Band students will be released at 2:30 to get lined up.   Students responsible for getting floats lined up (not entire classes, but those who are approved by Mrs. Converse) may leave between 2:20 and 2:30.  

Homecoming candidates will be excused to practice at the football field at 1:45.  Meet with Mrs. Converse at that time in the office.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

In case of bad or rainy weather on Friday that might cause the parade to be canceled, we will still plan on having the Pep Rally at 3:00 in the gym followed by refreshments served by Citizens' State Bank from the school cafeteria.  (Let's hope for good weather though!)  Go HHS Wildcats!

STUCO members:  We will briefly meet at noon in the high school library each day the rest of this week.

If you plan to bring an outside date to homecoming, be sure to get him/her signed up in the office today.

Homecoming dress up day - Wed. - Character Day; Thurs. - Hat Day; Fri. - Red, White and Blue Day.

Hang in there a couple more days, students and staff who are working hard with MAP tests.  You are all terrific!

The FCCLA membership party and adopt-a-highway clean-up has been postponed from Sept. 24th to Oct. 8th at 6:00 p.m. due to Homecoming festivities this week.  

Tuesday, Sept. 22

FBLA meeting will be held today during lunch.  All NON-FBLA members should go through the lunch line first.

Life Touch Photography will be here today to take pictures.   We will begin at 8:30 with Kindergarten and work up through the grades.  Varsity and JV Volleyball  group and individual pictures will be taken starting at 2:00 since the team will be traveling to Blue Valley for a triangular meet at Blue Valley shortly thereafter.  Junior high football and volleyball pictures will be taken at 2:30.  Varsity and JV football  pictures will be taken at 3:00.  Staff can have their pictures taken before the classes begin or mingled in with class pictures.  All pictures will be taken in the gym.

Congratulations to Hanover's volleyball team that took 5th place at the Republic County High Invitational Volleyball Tournament held Sept. 19th.

SENIORS:  Don't forget to bring your rollers and paint pans to decorate the streets on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Meet in front of the school. 

STUCO members:  Please meet in the elementary library at noon after you have eaten so you can select the best costume wearer for Monday and Tuesday.

CLASS SPONSORS - At our faculty meeting Sept. 18th, we decided that none of the floats should be allowed to throw candy -sweets out to the children standing along the streets.  Please note this as your students are preparing their class floats.

Books are Fun orders are due today by 1:00.

Homecoming candidates - Your biographical forms are due TODAY.  Please make sure you turn those sheets in to Jerod Diederich, Ashley Rengstorf or Mrs. Converse by the end of the day.  

Students interested in playing GOLF in the spring, don't forget that your $250 is due by October 1st.  Turn your checks in to the office. Make your checks payable to HHS golf.

 

 

Monday, Sept. 21  (See calendar events below these announcements.)

This is HOMECOMING WEEK 2009!  The following Dress Up Days attire are recommended for those who wish to participate.  One "best dressed" person will be selected each day.  Winners will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday and presented with a prize.Keep in mind that  no face paint is to be used.  Also, the dress code applies - except on Thursday when obviously hats will be allowed.

        Monday - Pajama Day

        Tuesday - Dress Up Day (also picture day with Life Touch Photography coming)

        Wednesday - Character Day

        Thursday - Hat Day

        Friday - Red, White and Blue Day

 

Homecoming theme is CAT FIGHT.  Taylor class floats to reflect this theme.  The Homecoming Parade will begin at 2:45 on Friday.  The Pep Rally should begin at 3:00 at the Citizens State Bank corner.  

Homecoming events will begin around 6:15 Friday evening with coronation activities happening at 6:30.  Please come to watch the activity pre-game and congratulate our homecoming candidates.

Students wishing to bring outside dates to the Homecoming Dance need to sign their dates up in the front office by the end of the school day on Wednesday.  Students need to make sure they have contact information about their date's parents available. (telephone numbers)

FCA is sponsoring a "See you at the pole" event Wednesday morning @ 8:05.

Congratulations to the football team and coaches for the 36-34 victory over Clifton-Clyde.

Dr. Ronald Cobb will speak to high school students during fifth hour (12:06 - 1:00 p.m.) in the gym about Substance Abuse and Prevention.  Community members are welcome to attend.

The Sunflower UP Federal Credit Union will continue to sponsor Hanover Save @ School beginning Sept. 23rd.  An initial deposit of $5.00 is required to open an account.  Deposits as low as fifty cents can be made to existing accounts.  For more information call 785.562.3741.

Students who still want to order Chester Drawers books may do so until Tuesday, Sept. 29th.  See Mrs. Hynek if you have questions.
