Time is racing, teachers are running, and students are pacing. Come
Friday at 3:30 p.m. the 2008-9 school year is history to students.
Nonetheless, we still have graduation events for the Class of 2009
on May 17th at 1:00 and for Kindergarten and 8th grade students on
May 19th at 7:00. Please encourage students to be safe as they come
and go and celebrate their graduations!
Information about summer athletic camps has been and still is being
disseminated. Mrs. Becky Doebele has been handling some volleyball
and basketball camp information. Coach Heuer is meeting this
Thursday during lunch period with football players about
conditioning schedules and camps for the summer.
Some teachers will be working with students during the summer. Make
sure you have their telephone numbers if you think there is a
chance you may need to speak with them. For example, when students
are involved with Days of ’49 activities – band, FFA, weight
room/football activities, etc.
Students in grades 9-12 may sign up for the Hanover Volunteer
Service Program and begin accumulating volunteer hours as soon as
school is out. Students need to submit a form signing up for the
program and track the hours they work on a submission sheet. These
forms are available online or through the office once school is
out. The best way for someone to get volunteer help is to ask a
teenager if he/she is willing to assist or if they know someone or
some group who could do so.
Congratulations to Washington County Bicycle Safety Poster Contest
winners who are Tyler Bonser (K), Kara Bruna (K), Julia Graff
(1st), Jessica Larrabee (3rd) and Austin Vogler (4). Nice job,
students.
All officer elections are now complete for the high school
organizations and classes. We have some excellent leadership moving
up to replace those who have vacated positions.
Tonight is the K-12 school music concert and art show. Mrs. Joni
Steffes and Mrs. Tiffany Schoenrock will showcase their students
and accomplishments beginning at 7:00 in the gym. Wednesday at 7:30
is the all member Hanover Booster Club meeting in the cafeteria.
Thursday is the TVL track meet in Washington.
There is a graduation breakfast for Seniors and their parents on
Friday at 9:00 in the cafeteria. Graduation practice will
immediately follow in the gym. In order for seniors to receive
their diplomas, all outstanding fees and school materials must be
turned in by Thursday. The same applies for all other students, but
their deadline is Friday. Contact Barb at 337.2281 if you have
questions about overdue payments.
Next week Hanover Public School staff will be in the building
cleaning rooms and working on in-service projects. After May 22nd,
there will be a skeletal staff at the school most of the time with
Fridays finding the building closed early during the month of July.
I will be in the area part of the time and our custodians will be
in the building or on the schools grounds most of the time.
Remember Drivers Ed classes run from June 1-13th beginning at 8:00
and meeting in the new building – Mr. Ohlde’s science room. Also,
Cool School starts the following Monday, June 15 and end on the
26th.
I am checking out of “What’s Happening” for the next few months,
but I hope all families in our school community have a wonderful
summer full of exciting experiences. When you are traveling on
vacations or to ballgames or to homes of relatives, don’t forget to
take some books or magazines for everyone to read. It is one way to
keep an academic skill sharp and learn in the process.
Until August…
