Hello Bulldogs!!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and weekend.  We have been gearing up for the huge eclipse event here at Linn Public.  It is always great when you get to do something that is once in a lifetime, and I am so glad that we are able to get the kids up to be able to see this in all its glory up at Hanover.  The kids really loved it, and it seemed the weather was looking out for us as the clouds parted and allowed us a wonderful view as the moon covered the sun.  However, the eclipse only covers Monday here, so we have a lot of other things going on.

This is a very exciting week for our junior and senior high students.  To begin, Jostens will be here this week for both seniors and sophomores.  For sophomores they will get to order their rings and begin thinking about graduation.  For the seniors, they will be ordering items for graduation.  This is their first taste of the reality of graduation, that it is coming, and that is always exciting.  Please be sure to speak with your students this week about their plans.

Next is the fall “Meet the Bulldogs”!!!  Oh yea, we will be celebrating our football, volleyball, and cheer squads.  This night is a ton of fun, and allows us to help pump up our kiddos to push for their best.  I hope you will all come out on Friday and get to take an early look at all of the teams.  Although the year is very young these kids have been working very hard to get ready for the long seasons ahead.  Friday is our first time to cheer for them this year, and they will definitely be worth cheering for.  Please come out this Friday and cheer for your bulldogs.  The festivities will begin at 5:30 with a Bulldog Backer’s meeting to follow.

It is very hard to believe that the year is already off and running.  Kids are filling the halls, and getting ready for the year to come.  We have some very exciting things happening this year, especially with new staff members ready and willing to leave their mark on Linn Public Schools.  This type of year is always the most stressful, but also the most exciting.  There is so much to get done and set for the year that it seems like the work will never get done because there just aren’t enough hours in the day.  However, this is also the time of year when anything can happen.  This is when we don’t know what is about to happen, so there is only room for optimism.  I am so excited to see our new staff in action.  I am so excited to see our new students in the halls, in the classrooms, and in competition.  As time goes forward we often find that we don’t always reach our goals.  Our test scores are too low, our teams lose games, and the promise that was suddenly turns in to the reality.  At this time though there is only time for belief in all things coming true, because even though we don’t always get to live our dreams, sometimes we do.

Thank you

It’s a great day to be a Bulldog!
