The Principal’s Corner
“We Challenge, You Succeed”
It is hard to believe but we have started our final month of the 2015-2016 school year! The year has gone by very quickly and it doesn’t seem possible that our seniors have nine days of school left and the rest of the student body is looking at only fourteen day until summer break. We still have several events left to get accomplished and we must make sure all of our students finish strong academically so we have work yet to accomplish!
One event that is in the books is our 2016 Junior-Senior Prom. It was a great night and the junior class and their sponsors did a fantastic job of getting everything ready for our biggest social event of the season. We had a full house for Prom Walk which gave the students and their dates the opportunity to show off their prom dresses and tuxedos. After picture time with their families and guests the staff and students joined together for the banquet. During the banquet the juniors had put together a power point featuring all of the members of the senior class which was a nice send-off for the Class of 2016. I understand the last slide of the presentation included the picture of a young couple from the 1977 Prom at Linn High School! (The blue leisure suit was a double bonus!) The students then danced the night away in the old gym and then wrapped up the evening with the After-Prom party which was hosted in the new gym. We would like to thank the many people and businesses that donated to our after-prom party and also to the parents and juniors for all of their hard work and energy in making Prom 2016 a fantastic event!
We will be hosting our annual Awards & Project Display Night on May 10th starting at 7:00 pm. The purpose of the evening is to accomplish several things as we near the end of our school year. We will have induction of the newest members to National Honor Society, recognition of our spring sports athletes and announce the numerous academic achievements of our 7-12 students. Mrs. Oehmke and our national qualifiers will be hosting a BBQ Hamburger and Hot Dog meal prior to the program. They are currently raising funds to help them with the expenses involved in attending nationals in June. This event will start at 5:30 pm. They also have several baskets that will be available in a silent auction that evening!
Our track and golf teams continue to march through the spring season even though the weather has not really cooperated. The junior high team should wrap up their season when they participated in the BVL meet this Tuesday (5/3). The high school squad and coaches are gearing up for the TVL meet on May 12th and the 1A Regional meet on May 20th. Our golfers are actually golfing today (5/2) with the TVL meet at Cedar Hills on May 9th with the regional and state meet to follow! We wish them all the best of luck in the coming weeks!
Don’t forget that we will be hosting Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2016 on May 15th at 1:00 pm. We would like to invite all of you to join us and help us celebrate the accomplishments of our current class of seniors and send them off in style!
It is great to be a Bulldog!
