The Principal’s Corner
“We Challenge, You Succeed”
Track season gets underway this week with our first junior high meet at Washington County on Thursday, March 31st. The squads have been practicing over the past several weeks to prepare for their events and they are excited to get into some real competition. The first high school track meet is the first Tuesday in April which is also the date of our first golf meet. We want to wish all of our athletes and coaches the best of luck as we begin the spring sports season.
If you would like to see our squads first hand please take the time to join us on Friday, April 1st for the Linn Spring A’Lymics. We will introduce all of our athletes and coaches and have some activities planned for those audience members willing to participate. This is always a fun evening so we invite everyone to join us and help us celebrate the spring sports season.
The fourth nine weeks is always the busiest time of the school year! Even though the fall and winter activities take up a considerable amount of time during the first three grading periods a lot of things seem to get scheduled during the fourth nine weeks. Along with the activities listed above we also have FFA attending the CCCC Aggie Days this week with other students going to the TVL Art Show on Wednesday and the TVL Forensics meet on Thursday of this week. Next week we start off with FBLA and FCCLA attending the state contests on Monday and Tuesday with other activities throughout the week. We are always visiting with the students about staying current in all of their classes so they are not caught off guard by the number of class days they will miss in the coming weeks!
The Twin Valley League presents an award called the TVL All-Academic Team to those juniors and seniors who have reached a specific GPA and participated in at least three activities under the KSHSAA umbrella. The nice thing about this award is that not only does it reward effort in the classroom it also recognizes students who may not earn athletic awards. Forensics, Scholars’ Bowl, Cheer, Vocal & Instrumental Music and Student Council are all considered eligible for this award. Each recipient receives a TVL Medal and a Certificate for their efforts. This year our TVL All-Academic recipients include: Seniors – Hanna Bott, Liza Van der Merwe and Juniors – Maggie Bott, Brooke Diederich, Tiffany Mathis, Chase McGatlin, Claire Ohlde, Kaitlin Ohlde, Kalen Richardson, Karsyn Smith, and Hunter York. Congratulations to all of these students.
It’s Great to be a Bulldog!
