The Principal's Corner
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Hello Bulldogs!!  Welcome back to the Principal’s Corner.  We have definitely had some wild weather around here the last few weeks.  It was wonderful getting to see our first real snow fall in over a year, but it was not quite as fun dealing with the after math!  I hope everyone was able to stay warm and safe during the storms.  It looks like we are now getting out of the tough weather and will be headed for a busy end of the winter.

To begin, last week, our local FCCLA put on their annual blood drive.  It is always great seeing people come out and be willing to literally give a part of themselves to help someone else.  Along with the community members who participated I always love seeing the kids taking part.  This is a wonderful way to start the idea of selflessness that our world so needs right now.  Even if some kids were in competition to see who could donate faster!!  Thank you Mrs. Oehmke and all FCCLA members for getting this going once again, and this time on a very short week.

Wednesday be sure to wish any Scholar’s Bowl participant you know good luck.  On Wednesday Ms. Fischer is taking the Scholar’s Bowl competitors to Centralia for the league tournament.  This is their last opportunity to prepare for sub-state.  We are definitely wishing them all good luck, and hopefully they can bring us back a TVL title.

This Friday, as you may or may not know, is a big day for all of the kids at Linn.  It marks our 100th day of school.  The junior and senior high students are excited simply because it means they are that much closer to the summer and graduation.  However, our elementary school is super excited for all the celebrations that will be occurring!  Our elementary classes have a ton of themed STEM activities planned for our students.  I am super excited to see all that these students do on day 100!

The last major event for the week is this Saturday.  The Linn FFA is hosting Donkey Basketball this Saturday in the Linn gym starting at 6:30. Tickets are being sold by members of the FFA throughout the community.  This should be a great evening for all who attend.  I look forward to getting up here and seeing all of the fun that is being had.  Hopefully I don’t get convinced to saddle up, but only time will tell.

This week is Hot Lunch Week for the state of Kansas.  I wanted to take a moment and thank three very special women who do a ton to help the students of Linn schools every single day.  Deb Oelschlager, Della Diederich, and JoAnn Thorman are three of the hardest working people in this school.  They arrive long before many of us are even awake, and they prepare meals for every student from Linn Elementary, to Linn Jr./Sr. High, to Linn Lutheran.  For many of our students they are some of the first interactions our students have at the school.  They always greet everyone with a smile and a laugh.  Their job is one that doesn’t get told thank you nearly enough, so I wanted to say thank you ladies for all you do for the students of Linn.

Thank you

It’s a great day to be a Bulldog!
