The Principal's Corner
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Hello Bulldogs!!  Welcome back to the Principal’s Corner.  The weather has definitely gotten much colder around here.  In just a few days we went from running around in shorts to frozen windshields and the largest coats we can imagine.  Yes, we can tell that winter is here and has arrived.  If things continue like this, we very well could have a white Christmas.  However, the holidays aren’t here yet, and that means another busy week at Linn Public.

I want to start by saying thank you to the community for the K-6 music concert.  I could not believe how many people were there.  It was truly a packed gym for our young performers.  Thank you all so much for coming out and celebrating and supporting our youngsters, especially on a cold night.  Along with that I also have to say thank you to Eunice Beier for playing an amazing piano, and always being willing to help our kids.  Also to Andy and Claire for their hard work in making sure the gym was ready.  None of this would have been possible without the very hard work by Mrs. Marilyn Pachta.  Thank you so much for putting the kids out front and center and making sure they were prepared to put on an amazing show.

This week we also have our FFA Canned Food Drive.  Please help our FFA students in their efforts to support those who are in need, especially at this time of year.  I am so thankful that we have Mr. Ron Smith and our FFA students who truly understand what this time of year is about.

We will also have the annual Geography Bee this week.  Wednesday afternoon our students will be attempting to make the state Geography Bee competition.  Mr. Voelker has preparations ready, and is very excited about this student this year.  Last year we had a representative at the state competition, Lindsay Mueller, and we hope we can send another this year.

This past Saturday we had our own Linn Booster Club put on their annual Christmas celebration for the youngsters of the Linn community.  Such a wonderful day for these kids to make sure that their holiday season is as memorable as all of ours were when we were young.  Thank you Linn Booster Club for supporting our kids.

We also have another annual event coming this week.  Mrs. Connie Herrs is hosting her annual inventors fair this Thursday afternoon.  Last year I thought this was just a truly amazing event.  Not only seeing the hard work these students put in for research to learn about a famous inventor, but the fact that they took it to the next level and dressed, decorated, and put on performances for all to come and see.  It is such an awesome sight to behold.  If you are free at 2:15 on Thursday, I truly recommend you come to Linn Elementary and see this wonderful event.

Also, parents of our youngest Bulldogs and community members who are interested, don’t forget to contact Mrs. Andrea Woltje about reading to our Kindergartners.  They are excited for this season; they have really been running on cloud nine for weeks.  So we encourage everyone who is able to come in and share the joy of reading and love of the season with our Kindergarten class.

It is now time to throw some thanks and good news on some people who are part of the Linn Schools Community.  Today I really want to talk about Tim Voelker.  Everyone knows just how amazing of a man Tim is.  Here is a truly caring and giving soul.  What many of you don’t know is the amazing amount of work I have thrown on him this year.  I have tasked him with really changing and upping the way we prepare our students for life after school.  Not only has Tim been happy to go with every crazy idea I have, but he has met every challenge.  He has pushed himself and has really begun changing the way our students are thinking about life after school.  Thank you so much Tim for being such an amazing advocate for the students and community of Linn.  You are a Bulldog for life!
